Fremont Union High School District

RGS Energy worked with the Fremont Union High School District to install 3.4 megawatts of solar electricity generation at five schools in Sunnyvale, Cupertino, and West San Jose, California. This enormous project is now responsible for 45% of the electricity used by each of the schools, and the solar panel arrays double as covered carport parking. The savings to taxpayers in the district over 25 years is a whopping $12 million.
The 3.4 megawatt installation was finished in 2011 and includes a system monitoring utility at each school that acts as an educational tool for students as well as a way for officials to track and prove the systems’ productivity.
