Gaiam, a lifestyle and media company headquartered in Louisville, Colorado, has always been ahead of the curve on environmentally friendly business practices. Over the years, the company has implemented a recycling and composting program, sourced renewable and sustainable materials for its products, brought in an on-site zero-waste organic cafe and, more recently, commissioned a large 100 kW solar energy system from RGS Energy.

RGS Energy delivered the system on time and without delays. The system was sized so that it could offset as much of the building’s electricity usage as possible while still qualifying for the solar rebates and tax incentives that helped make it easy to work into Gaiam’s operating budget.

Gaiam’s solar system produces over 145,000 kW-hours of clean, inexpensive electricity every year. While situated on a flat, recessed roof that makes them invisible from the ground below, the modules are mounted on Sunlink racking that orients them southeast and southwest to capture solar radiation all day.
